Acer wants to cater to the needs of gamers and professionals

Not long ago, we were saying that encouraged by the success of companies putting an emphasis on the production of gaming notebooks (like MSI), other brand vendors such as Acer and Lenovo will begin focusing more of their efforts towards building such products.

And it didn’t take long before Acer made an announcement. Back in August, Acer pulled the wraps off its first line of gaming notebooks called the Aspire V Nitro, but the cherry on top was the Black Edition, which is the high-end model.

Acer goes 4K in the world of gaming

The laptop started selling last month, but seeing how people go all crazy about 4K resolution, Acer thought it would satisfy the needs of those wanting the best on board. So the company has announced the new V Nitro Black Edition will be offered with 3840 x 2160 (4K Ultra HD) resolution.

The laptop arrives with a 15.6-inch form factor and boasts 282 ppi, keeping things quite portable. The notebook doesn’t necessarily appeal only to gamers and professionals, but these are the folks who are going to go appreciate the Black Edition the most.

The fact is that the laptop blends the best of both worlds. For example, it has a back-lit keyboard like all self-respecting gaming machines, while at the same time bundling features you’d normally expect to find on professionals machines, like a Kensington lock slot.

The V Nitro Black Edition takes advantage of mid-range Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor from the Haswell family and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M GU with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM (which is not top of the line, the 880M is). Not to mention, NVIDIA already put out the GeForce GTX 980M / 970M graphics card.

Acer’s new gaming laptop offers the services of a multitude of ports including three USB 3.0 slots, one HDMI, Ethernet and a headphone/mic jacks.

Buy a laptop, get Assassin Creed Unity for free

Acer really wants you to pick up this laptop, so to sweeten the deal, it is throwing in a “freebie” in the form of a complementary digital download of Assassin Creed Unity.

The game is currently in pre-order status at Ubisoft and is expected to roll out November 11 with a $60 / €48 price tag.

So if you’re a fan of 4K and the extra game download doesn’t look half as bad either, you should know you can pick up the laptop for $1500 / €1200.

We’ll take an opportunity here to remind you that ASUS also has a similar notebook on the market, coming in the form of the ROG GX500 which also offers a 4K display and NVIDIA Geforce GTX 860M graphics with 2GB DDR5.
