In August, Acer pulled the wraps off a line of gaming notebooks called the Aspire V Nitro, but the cherry on top was the Black Edition, which is a high-end model designed to appease the needs of the most demanding users out there.

But a few months back Acer didn't say anything about availability or pricing, but the wait has come to an end now. Acer is bringing three Black Edition models, two with 15.6-inch displays and one with a bigger 17.3-inch display to the States, with pricing starting at $1,099 / €871, as reported by Beta News.

The three models are built around the same specifications

All three models basically take advantage of similar specs. They rely on an Intel Core i7-4710HQ and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics, which is not bad.

However, those of you who want more will want to look somewhere else to the likes of Origin, Alienware and MSI, which offer products taking advantage of GTX 870M and 880M GPUs.

The smaller models come with a 15.6-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution (full HD) fitted with 8GB of RAM.

The difference between the two V15 models comes from the amount of storage offered. One model will come with 1TB standard hard drive and will be up for grabs from Newegg for $1,099 / €871, while the other one has 128GB SSD plus 1TB HDD and will make an appearance at Amazon with $1,199 / €950 price tag.

The two laptops are quite portable (5.6 lbs / 2.5 kg and 0.9 inches / 24 mm in profile) and don’t make use of an Optical drive anymore.

Moving on to the 17.3-inch model which will go on sale as the V17, you can expect to see it arrive on Amazon, Fry and other retailers with the price-tag of $1,499 / €1,188.

Compared to the smaller versions, the CPU and GPU remain untouched, but customers will get more in terms of RAM (up to 16GB) and storage (256GB SSD / 1TB HDD).

Furthermore, those opting for the behemoth of the series will also take advantage of a Blu-ray player optical drive.

The Aspire V Nitro Black Edition has a gaming-friendly design

The Aspire V Nitro Black Edition looks pretty much how you’d expect a gaming notebook to look like. It has a backlit red keyboard and is outfitted with matte black.

To conclude, we’ll note that the cheaper V15 version will become available starting mid-October, while the more expensive V15 and the V17 will be up for grabs in November. Just in time for the kick start of the holiday season.
