Acer, as consumers must be well aware by now, is betting heavily on the mobile-computer front this year in its quest to finally secure, beyond any doubt, the position of second greatest PC supplier worldwide. As such, the company has decided not to get involved in the tablet mania, instead focusing on netbooks and notebooks. Part of its effort includes heavily exploiting the Calpella platform from Intel. To illustrate this, the Taiwanese company has brought forth a number of Aspire TimelineX laptops.

The TimelineX models were announced about a month ago, but have reportedly only just managed to become available in Europe. Coming in screen sizes of 13.3, 14 and 15.6 inches, they are dubbed the Timeline X 3820T, 4820T and 5820T, respectively. Essentially, they combine the might of Intel Core Series CPUs with memory, storage and graphics capabilities of the same level.

The laptops come with Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 chips and up to 8GB of RAM. The storage space is provided by a hard disk drive, with a capacity of up to 640GB. Furthermore, either mobile PC can come equipped with an Integrated Intel graphics media accelerator or the Mobility Radeon HD 5650 or HD 5470 switchable graphics. Other specifications include Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, optional Bluetooth and 3G for connectivity, as well as a Crystal Eye webcam and a number of USB ports for I/O. Finally, all PCs come with a LED-backlit display with a maximum resolution of 1,366 x 768.

The 3820T, 4820T and 5820T have already started shipping, at prices of 699 Euro, 749 Euro and again 749 Euro, respectively. As for the upcoming Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T, this particular notebook, measuring 11.6 inches, should make its official debut in June, at a starting price of 549 Euro and with specifications similar to those of its siblings.
