The new Acer device has been rumored ever since last month

Early last month, a new machine from Acer surfaced online. The Aspire Switch 10 was a 3-in-1 Windows laptop/tablet convertible which showed up in a design database. We weren't sure if the machine was merely a concept or a real product, but now the complete specifications of the hybrid have been made available.

A month ago, when the Acer Aspire Switch 10 surfaced, we couldn't tell you a lot in terms of specifications, except that the 2-in-1 arrived with a 10.1-inch screen and probably ran Windows 8.1 out of the box.

Back at CeBIT, we found out that Acer was working on a new Iconia W5 dockable tablet, which will probably be released at Acer’s event in New York scheduled for April 29.

But now an online retail listing from Switzerland reveals more information about the upcoming tablet, including the name. Apparently, Acer is not calling the new product either the Iconia W5 or the Switch 10, but the Aspire Switch SW5, reports MobileGeeks.

As we have previously told you, the Aspire Switch SW5 will arrive with a keyboard dock that permits the tablet to be transformed into a fully-fledged laptop. The dock is probably going to be home to an extra battery extension that’s going to prolong the life of your machine.

But let’s talk real specifications. Being a convertible, we expected the machine to come with at least full HD display, but sadly, it appears that this is not the case. The 10.1-inch Aspire Switch will offer just 1366 x 768 resolution.

Under the hood, there lies an Intel Atom Z3746 Bay Trail processor seconded by 64GB of internal storage. There’s no information about the amount of RAM we’re going to see onboard, but we will go for 2GB of RAM.

The Switch SW5 also comes bundled with a microSD card, microHDMI output and microUSB port. The dock probably has an extra standard USB, but there’s no information on that yet. The listing shows expected battery life amounting to 8 hours.

If the dock does indeed come with an extra battery bundled in its midst, it means that users will be provided with an extra 6 hours.

The Acer Aspire Switch SW5 will offer better design quality as it will be made of aluminum. According to the listing in Switzerland, the tablet/notebook convertible will ship for €368 / $510.

That’s not a bad price for a 2-in-1 machine, but we guess we will know more about the device when Acer holds its event in New York.
