For now, it appears Acer believes a hardware problem is causing these issues

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 started shipping out to customers not so long ago, and even before this happened, early adopters complained about the touchpad not working properly.

It is possible that Acer managed to do some quick damage control before rolling out the device for mainstream users, since the problem hasn't been highlighted in subsequent reviews. But this doesn't mean the machine got a clean slate.

Displeased customers have already started making rounds on the Acer official forum, complaining about issues related to buttons acting out.

As user Ravynmagi puts it:

“I've been having problems with the Acer Aspire Switch tablet/2-in-1. The Windows button will stop responding, also the volume buttons and power buttons behave differently when the Windows button stops working. Such as volume up causes the Ease of Access Narrator toggle on and off, which usually requires a Windows + Volume Up combo to cause.”

“So it's like when the Windows button fails the tablet thinks it's stuck on. Volume down causes the screen to dim and the power button brings up the lock screen instead of turning it off.”

“Things I've tried... I've done a factory reset of Windows. I've installed the keyboard firmware update. I've tried removing all the Acer software. I've tried rebooting. The only thing that seems to work is powering the tablet off and back on.”

The topic stretches for pages on end with users from the Netherlands, US, Italy, Singapore, Puerto Rico experiencing the same problems.

Acer representatives have been made aware of the issues and one of them states the following.

“I apologize for the delayed response regarding the Switch 10 issues being discussed here. In regards to the capacitive Windows key it is possible for it to involuntarily activate on occasion. We are not aware of any systemic issues that would cause the key to stick.”

Installing patches and updates recommended by the Acer support team members and users from the forum doesn't seem to be fixing anything, as the problems always come back.

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 seems to be faced with the same button problems as the Iconia W700 tablet, which hasn't received any BIOS update or patch to fix the problem to this date. However, same users point out the W700 has a physical problem with its buttons, but the Switch is a capacitive one.

Some customers who sent in their Acer Aspire Switch for repairs have received feedback from Acer saying their respective devices have a hardware problem, so they need to send it back again for repairs. Therefore, for the time being the best thing you could do is make use of your device warranty (if you have one) and send it to Acer. Hopefully, they will issue a replacement.
