It has high-end hardware and, unfortunately, a high price as well

We suppose it was only a matter of time before Acer got around to updating its ultrabook collection. No longer is the Aspire S7 representing it. Instead, the Aspire S7-392 has now been revealed.

Sadly, “revealed” doesn't mean the same thing as “made available.” The product has been launched, sure, but it will take a while for availability to ramp up around the world.

Right now, shipments are only being carried out in the United States of America, for the price of $1,450.

Perhaps it won't take more than a few weeks before European countries also get it. This is yet unclear.

When it does arrive, however, the price tag will probably be closer to €1,450 than €1,097, even though exchange rates suggest the latter.

Acer Aspire S7-392 boasts, like its predecessor, a display (Full HD resolution, 1920 x 1080 pixels) with a diagonal of 13.3 inches.

An Intel Core i5 CPU acts as the heart of the system, with its clock speed of 1.6 GHz, unless buyers opt for a 1.8 GHz Core i5 CPU instead.

In fact, there are two options, so to speak. The first, with a solid-state drive of 128 GB and the price we have mentioned before.

And the second, but paired with an SSD of 256 GB. In this case, the tag rises to $1,700 / €1,287 – €1,700.

Both configurations are rounded up by 8 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory), HD web cameras and batteries with a lifespan of 7 hours.

Eventually, Acer will release Aspire S7-392, or some other Aspire S7 laptop, with a display of 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. No clue when that will happen though, or what price it will sport. We can only hope, for Acer's sake, that the prices don't result in customers scurrying away in fear.
