This powerful and dazzling machine doesn’t come cheap

Earlier today, we brought you news that some first-tier notebook vendors were planning to focus their efforts on non-touch screen notebooks, seemingly because Ultrabook and touch-enabled notebook demand hasn't picked up.

Acer, however, makes another attempt at winning over customers’ hearts, by pulling the veil off its Aspire S7-392-FT8U stylish Ultrabook.

The new offering packs the best of the best and will definitely put to shame a lot of laptop models available on the market today. Let’s start with the 13.3-inch IGZO display that features a beautiful resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, capable of delivering crisp and rich images.

Acer has coated the laptop’s screen with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 which means the display is scratch resistant. The model doesn't disappoint in the processor department, being powered by a powerful 1.8GHz Intel Core i7-4500U processor from the Haswell family coupled with 8GB of RAM.

The Aspire S7 model also has Intel HD Graphics 4400 inside and pretty decent internal storage capabilities (via the 256GB SSD).

Of course, the Acer Ultrabook offers the rest of usual functionalities you might expect to find embedded like Wi-Fi, SD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0 + HS.

There’s a massive battery of 6280 mAh, which should ensure you get enough life juice into the machine to see you through a day of work. The Ultrabook runs on Windows 8.1, as one would expect.

All this sounds indeed pretty good and Acer is known to price its products at fairly affordable rates (might be the most wallet-friendly brand vendor around), but not with this Ultrabook. If you want powerful specifications like this, combined with an aesthetically pleasing design, you’ll have to pay up big.

At the moment, Acer Aspire S7-392-FT8U (a model of the Acer Aspire S7 family) is available in Japan for the massive price tag of $1,950 / €1,418.
