Early this month, Acer quietly expanded its line of ultraportable netbook systems with the introduction of the rumored
Aspire One 531, a new system that boasted a sleek and slim design, and which was built using the Atom N280 processor, running at 1.66Ghz, and featured with 10-inch display. However, the system vendor had bigger plans
for this design, as it just introduced a new, “Pro” model that is basically built on the 531, also known as the A531.
As the non-Pro Aspire One 531, the new netbook from Acer comes with a 10.1-inch 1024x600 (WSVGA) display and provides users with a choice for either an Atom N270 or an Atom N280 processor. However, the system can be fitted with a larger 250GB hard drive or a choice for a faster 64GB Flash-based Solid State Drive, this being one of the new features that are enabled on the Pro version. Additionally, users will be offered the choice of either a Windows XP Professional, Home Edition or Vista Business operating system.
The new netbook will also enable users to take advantage of wide range of wireless connectivity options, including 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and optional UMTS/HSPA WWAN. This is one of the system's most significant features, as it allows the user to connect to the Internet through a series of standards.
Additional specs include a multi-in-1 card reader, high-definition audio support, integrated webcam, up to 2GB of system memory and choices for either a 3-cell or a 6-cell battery pack. The netbook also comes with the usual array of features, including three USB 2.0 ports, one VGA, Microphone and Headphone jacks, one RJ-45 connector for Ethernet LAN and a standard AC power connector. Packed with an HDD drive and a 6-cell battery pack, the system is said to weigh in at 1.27Kg.
Unfortunately, we have no details on the netbook's pricing and availability.
