The Acer Aspire One 522 is one of those products that made it into the news several times before it even became available for sale, but those times are finally over now that online listings have shown up.

After Advanced Micro Devices launched the Fusion architecture back at the start of January (2011), makers of laptops, naturally, got busy.

The netbook market, of course, did not go by ignored, even though the number of new models wasn't on par with how many new netbooks were released at CES 2010.

Nevertheless, CES 2011, naturally, had a large collection of its own on show, even though tablets ended up getting most of the attention.

One of the new low-end laptops was in the news weeks ago and is dubbed Acer Aspire One 522, being powered by the Brazos platform.

The processor here used is the C-50 accelerated processing unit, a dual-core 'Bobcat' model with a clock frequency of 1.0 GHz.

The other part of the APU is the Radeon HD 6250 integrated graphics, which may not be overly mighty but does handle some casual games and DirectX 11.

It is that integrated GPU that handles the 10.1-inch CrystalBrite LED-backlit LCD, whose native resolution is of 1,280 x 800 pixels.

Acer made sure the C-50 was backed up by 1 GB of RAM and also put in a hard disk drive with a storage capacity of 250 GB.

Other specifications include an HDMI output (for streaming to auxiliary monitors or HDTVs), LAN, a 1.3 megapixel webcam and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi.

All the above are kept operational by a 6-cell battery, which can last for up to 6 hours on a single charge.

As for the frame itself, it can have either a Diamond Black and Olive Green color, while the base price tag of both is $330. Windows 7 Starter is the operating system pre-loaded on the newcomers.
