At this year's Computex, Acer has presented a new 14-inch notebook design, called the Aspire 8481, which packs one of the slimmest displays available in a laptop this size as well as an Intel second generation Core processor.

The screen used is manufactured by LG, goes by the name of Shuriken, and enabled the Taiwanese manufacturer to build a display bezel that is just 4mm thick.

Combine this with a carbon fiber chassis and you pretty much know that Acer has manged to built one slim and light notebook design that will surely please users who do a lot of traveling.

Outside of its thin and stylish exterior, Acer's notebook also packs quite a punch as it's powered by Intel's second-generation Core i7 processors, also known as Sandy Bridge, featuring dual CPU cores and support for Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost.

These are paired together with an Nvidia GeForce GT 520 dedicated graphics card, that comes complete with support for the Optimus technology, as well as with at least 4GB of DDR3 memory.

Storage is provided by a 320GB hard drive, and users can also connect a high-speed external storage drive to the Aspire 8481 via the included USB 3.0 port (which also features power-off charging).

Other features include, Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity, HDMI and VGA video outputs, a multi-format memory card reader, a fingerprint reader, and a built-in 1.3MP webcam.

According to Acer, the battery can work without a recharge for about 13 hours, but the company's hasn't detailed the specific tests that were run in order to come up with these figures.

No details regarding pricing are available at this time, but the Acer Aspire 8481 notebook is expected to be officially launched around mid-June. (via HardwareLuxx)
