Following in the footsteps of Gigabyte and Micro-Star International, Acer took one of its laptops, dubbed Aspire 5742, and expended its availability, in this case by sending it to Europe.

For those interested in a reminder, laptops from Gigabyte and MSI were detailed, and revealed to be on their way to becoming available, not too long ago.

Now, Acer is joining this so-called movement, only with a mobile personal computer that seems to have a more or less higher degree of customizability than those two.

The product in question is the Acer Aspire 5742 and is a 15.6-inch laptop powered by the Intel Calpella platform.

What this means, at least in this case, is that the CPU can be either a Core i3 or Core i5 chip, complete with integrated Intel HD graphics.

Customers will also have the option of adding a discrete graphics option from either NVIDIA or Advanced Micro Devices.

Whichever combination is chosen will be completed by the 15.6-inch display whose native resolution is of 1,366 x 768 pixels.

Additionally, the CPU itself will be backed up by up to 4 GB of RAM (random access memory), while storage space is brought to the equation by a hard disk drive whose internal capacity is of 500 GB.

Other specifications include a complete list of connectivity and I/O options, such as Gigabit Ethernet, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and Bluetooth.

Not only that, but Acer even threw in an HDMI port, for streaming multimedia to auxiliary displays, as well as a multi-gesture touchpad and a Finetip keyboard.

All of these components are packed inside a casing that is styled in one of three color themes, namely brown, red and black.

European stores should start listing this machine shortly, if they haven't already, at a price of 599 Euro.
