Acer, one of the world's leading vendors of personal computer systems and one of the first companies to debut in the fast-growing market of netbooks, has just announced that it will bundle Nero 9 Essential on all of its desktop systems sold globally, including models from the Acer, Gateway, Packard Bell and eMachines brands. The news comes as the fruit of a collaboration between the PC vendor and the software developer, providing end-users with an added value for their desktop PC systems.

“Consumers need to be able to take their new system out of the box and complete tasks like burning music or videos with ease, and share their favorite digital content with friends and family,” said Jackson Lin, vice president of Global Strategic Alliance, IT Products Global Operations at Acer Group. “Nero 9 Essentials gives them a quick and easy way to jump right into enjoying the power and functionality of their new computer.”

Acer, which is currently the world's number 3 player in the PC industry, will provide its customers with a software bundle that will allow them to easily burn CDs and DVDs and access the easy-to-use Nero StartSmart 9 Essential interface. The move is most likely meant to help Acer boost its desktop sales, a measure that is understandable in a market that continues to see decreasing demand on the part of the consumers. The company's collaboration with Nero has already allowed Packard Bell users to take advantage of the bundled software, and it now appears that the partnership will extend to all of Acer's brands.

“Customer feedback guides the design of each of our offerings. As a result, we’ve built a strong worldwide reputation of providing solid solutions for consumers to enjoy their content at home, on-the-go, and online,” said Hyder Rabbani, senior vice president of Worldwide OEM Sales at Nero. “The bundling of the Nero 9 Essentials software with Acer computers takes advantage of the new Windows 7 operating systems and delivers a computer optimized for today’s PC users.”
