Acer has already revealed its Aspire 5738PG multitouch notebook but, of course, the company's laptop lineup definitely does not reduce itself to that single model. In addition to DirectX 11 graphics and multitouch capabilities, there is a third technology set to take off during 2010, namely 3D. While aiming to be among the first to produce 3D-capable mobile computers, the company decided to merge the advanced DirectX 11 technology with support for 120Hz videos, the end result being the Acer Aspire 5740DG.

Unlike its multitouch-capable sibling, which is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo central processing unit, this particular laptop runs on an Intel Core i5 430M processor. This CPU has a frequency of 2.26 GHz and an FSB of 1,066 MHz. Also, in order to ensure maximum performance, the notebook is equipped with 4GB memory. As for graphics, both multimedia and gaming enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the PC maker implemented the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 card, with up to 2,746 MB of HyperMemory.

The high-end graphics can be taken advantage of through the notebooks' own 15.6-inch Wide XGA Glare screen. This display is capable of outputting 3D images as it supports a refresh rate of 120Hz, 60Hz for each eye. Storage capabilities are provided by a 640GB hard disk drive and a DVD Super Multi DL unit. As far as the other specifications of the device are concerned, the Acer Aspire 5740DG boasts Acer Nplify 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, HDMI out, Ethernet and Dolby Home theater speakers, similar to the Aspire 5738PG.

The 3D notebook is fueled by a six-cell Li ion battery and is Energy Star certified, which means that battery life should be decent. As for availability and pricing, the product is already listed on Amazon Germany, with a price tag of 825 Euro, or about $1,130.
