According to the latest news on the Internet, computer maker Acer might come to the market with its first mobile phone powered by Google's Android operating system as soon as November this year. The news is more like a confirmation of what we already knew, as the company stated before that it intended to launch its Android-powered handset in the fourth quarter of the year.

The news that the first Acer Android-based mobile phone, A1, will come in November has surfaced on DigiTimes, in an article about the competition between Acer and ASUSTeK on the smartphone market. According to the article, some sources from the industry have stated that said device should come to the market in that time frame.

In addition to mentioning the Android phone, the article also says that Acer has in plan 9 smartphones for the ongoing year. We already saw the computer maker release some of its handsets into the wild, including the F1 and L1, which were recently spotted at Computex in Taiwan, and the A1 should be a logical succession both in branding and in the choice of operating system.

In comparison to Acer, which managed to deliver all of its phones to the market in due time, Garmin-Asus, the joint venture between ASUSTeK and Garmin, has already delayed its Nuvifones, and the forecasts do not seem to be too optimistic either. Although the company intends to release an Android phone in the near future as well, there are little chances that it will hit the market on schedule.

It seems that Acer has the chance to overtake ASUSTeK on the smartphone market before the end of the year, at least this is what DigiTimes suggests. As many of you might already know, the company already announced that it had big plans for the smartphone market, and that it intended to become one of the top phone makers in the world in the following few years.
