Acer has made public quite a lot of details about its upcoming Iconia Tab A700 tablet, which is scheduled to arrive in the second quarter of this year with a 10.1-inch 1920x1200 resolution screen, but until recently the pricing of the device has remained a mystery.

This however changed recently when a German website found out that Acer wanted to ask 549 EUR ($719 US) for the entry-level 16 GB version of the device.

Tablet Test also revealed that the high-end model of the tablet, which sports WiFi and 3G connectivity, as well as 64GB of storage space, would be priced at approximately 749 EUR ($981 US).

While these prices are definitely a bit steep, the Acer tablet does come with a high-res screen and quad-core Tegra 3 system-on-a-chip (SoC) device clocked at 1.3GHz, which should make it ideal for watching 1080p movies and other digital content.

Furthermore, users can also chose to connect the A700 to an external display or HDTV if they want, as the slate comes equipped with a mini-HDMI port.

This is placed on the right edge of the Iconia Tab A700 together with a SIM and micro-USB slots, a dedicated rotation lock switch, the usual volume rockers, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Acer’s tablet is also equipped with dual cameras, one front 2MP webcam with HD video support and a 5MP rear snapper with a built-in flash.

Other features include a microSD port, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, as well as 9800mAh battery pack, which Acer estimates that it can deliver up to 10 hours of continuous video playback.

The operating system of choice will be Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, which will feature a series of Acer-specific software, such as the Acer Ring, a circular launcher menu that lets you access specific apps straight from the lock screen.
