It's clear that nowadays most of the IT&C customers go for notebooks or traditional systems including compact barebones or full-size cases. Still, the need for miniaturization remains pregnant and this is particularly supported by the motherboard manufacturers. In this respect, as a global leader in IPC components, Acrosser, prepares the release of their latest gaming Single Board Computer - the AR-B5290.

Apart from the usual SBC functionality, the AR-B5290 offers a series of gaming-related input/output and security features. Acrosser's new SBC model comes in the mini-ITX form factor and it is able to provide unparalleled flexibility and mobility for gaming-oriented systems. Although in a small form-factor, this SBC model still offers great performance at only a fraction of the classical gaming rigs unfriendly prices. In order to perform in a competitive manner, the AR-B5290 supports the Intel Pentium M and Celeron M CPUs that can be coupled with as much as 2 GB dual channel DDR RAM .

This new SBC model is based on Intel's 915GM Express chipset and ICH6M controller, which make up for a compact solution that is small in size, power efficient, quiet running, and rich in gaming I/O. As far as I/O connectivity is concerned, AR-B5290 supports up to 6 USB 2.0 ports, one 10/100Mb Ethernet port, decent stereo audio output, one Type II CF socket , two ccTalk ports and even a COM port. The onboard IGP supports one VGA input and storage support is offered through usual 18bit LVDS.

Other important compatibility and security features that come with the AR-B5290 include:

- JAMMA (Japan Arcade Machine Manufacturers' Association) and 72 pin golden finger interface, which allows more than one SBC to be integrated into modern arcade machines. - Optical isolated interruptible digital inputs - 500mA Darlington transistor outputs - Intrusion logger - Two ccTalk ports - Dual 128KB battery back-up SRAM with battery low monitor 16-bit user define GPIO - 4 x 16-bit interruptible Timer - Hardware True random number generator - Two 8-bit readable DIP switch - iButton, ProtectU & EEPROM security
