The pornographic websites tend to become more and more popular because one thing is sure: sex sells and there are a lot of clients in every corner of the world.
Because some of us must be protected against adult content, there are several applications able to block pornographic websites or restrict the access based on certain keywords. Although they are somehow useful, the authorities from the entire world are fighting to increase the security of our computers and restrict the access to this type of websites.
The Korean authorities started the most powerful offensive, aiming to restrict access to all the foreign porn sites and planning to clean the pages returned by numerous portals. The Ministry of Information and Communication sustained the government will block around 180 sites by the end of May while an impressive number of pages will be removed until the end of the year.
"We believe that the measure will be quite effective in dealing with obscene materials in cyberspace as we found most Internet users obtain such content from foreign pornographic sites and upload them on local portals," the ministry said in a statement, according to The Korea Times.
The Korean Internet market is quite impressive because a high percent of the population is already connected to the worldwide network. At this time, all the Internet giants are looking to increase their presence on the Asian market and of course, conquer it to boost their profit and the popularity. Take the example of Google and Yahoo, the two giants that are already making hard efforts to become more important in China and Korea but they encountered a powerful offensive from the local giant, Baidu.
However, the Korean authorities' decision comes after only one week since Yahoo's Yammy published a porn video on the websites that was available for almost 6 hours. Although it was then removed, the clip describes an important problem for the authorities in the country.
