Accellion, a company that provides enterprise-class, secure collaboration and managed file transfer solutions, has extended its offerings to Apple’s iOS devices.

Today the company announced the general availability of Accellion apps for iPad and iPhone. They are free downloads on Apple's iTunes App Store.

Both allow users to securely collaborate, view, and share files directly from their iDevice, with the HD (iPad) version providing a larger view of everything the user needs to see at a glance.

The solution is designed to work with Accellion Secure Collaboration, which lets business users share anything from images, presentations, spreadsheets, to financial documents, product specifications, and any project file or folder up to 100 GB in size.

Basically, Accellion Secure Collaboration makes it easy for enterprise users to share information with both internal and external collaborators in a secure environment.

In a nutshell, the apps enable users to carry out the following tasks on their iPhone or iPad, according to Accellion:

· Browse and view files and workspaces on a mobile device · Share and send files while on-the-go · Comment and collaborate in real-time with colleagues, clients, partners, and customers · Get real-time notifications on file and workspace updates

“Business users want anytime, anywhere access to files. With the introduction of Accellion Mobile Apps, iPhone and iPad users now have a secure alternative to dropbox-type file sharing applications,” stated Yorgen Edholm, president and CEO of Accellion.

“Protecting intellectual property, ensuring compliance, improving business productivity, and reducing costs are the reasons companies around the world provide their users with Accellion secure file sharing.”

The Accellion iOS solution requires an authorized account on an Accellion Secure Collaboration system. Interested parties must consult with their company’s IT department for required access information.

Accellion for iPhone and iPod touch requires iOS 3.1 or later, whereas Accellion HD requires iOS 3.2 or later.
