Developed by Everything Techs, an iOS software development company, Home Run Derby Challenge 1.0 is a baseball game based on the accelerometer feature of the iOS platform. Recently announced, the game features realistic graphics and animation, and puts players' speed and reflexes to the test, as they're trying to swing and hit the ball.

Thanks to the iOS device's accelerometer, which measures the player's wrist movement, when he tries to swing, the game feels very realistic.

Players will notice that pitches come at various speeds, and only well hit balls will go over the fence for a home run.

Further, Home Run Derby Challenge provides even more realism, as it allows the batter to swing and miss, and to hit balls deep but not over the fence, unlike other similar games.

Some of the key features of the game include: Home run game tests player's speed, reflexes, and coordination; Realistic graphics, animation, and sound; Accelerometer measured swings; Random pitch speeds; Batters can get a hit, a miss, a home run, or a check swing; Extra points for fastball home runs; Bonus points for home runs on a streak.

Home Run Derby Challenge is a single player game, and the objective is to score as many points as possible before getting five outs. Home Run Derby Challenge also includes excellent music and sound effects.

"In most HR Derby games every swing is a hit," stated company co-owner Patricio Caldera. "But in Home Run Derby Challenge 1.0, you must swing at exactly the right time to get a hit or a homer."

The game is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 3.1.2 or later (iOS 4 tested), and requires 12.1 MB storage space.

Home Run Derby Challenge is available worldwide exclusively through the AppStore and can be downloaded for only $1.99 (USD).
