Yesterday, Paul Sherman, developer of Absolute Linux, announced the immediate availability of the Absolute Linux 12.1.07, which is now package compatible with Slackware current, and not Slackware 12.1. This version brings numerous changes, including an ungraded kernel (2.6.24.7), new GCC (4.2.4) and XULRunner (1.9.0.1).

The file finding tool (ff.py) has been updated, thus having a more friendly and eye-pleasing appearance. Enhanced functionality like the "open-with" command to use the newest applications, and the possibility to ignore cache and hidden files have also been added.

The PCMan File Manager was updated to version 0.5.0, which includes a few new functions, such as "Search-In..." for displayed folders, and menu item for file backup that makes a filename.bak.

The GIMP has been updated to 2.4.7, having customized scripts, themes and settings and including some extra tools as well (the complete extra brush and pattern files), which were previously part of the GIMP_data_extras package.

A minor function was added to the Audacious audio player by providing an eq tool for headphones, while the developer disregarded newer packages because they generated certain CD playback irregularities.
