Staff at Taipei Zoo in Taiwan is now busy looking after a pair of otter pups that have only recently been brought to this facility. The baby otters are incredibly young, and their caretakers must monitor them at all times to make sure that everything is OK.

Zoo Borns tells us that the baby otters were brought to Taipei Zoo after being found all alone in Kinmen National Park. Keepers cannot say what happened to their mom, but they think that it probably abandoned them for some reason.

Vets have had the chance to examine the Eurasion otter pups, and say that, all things considered, they are probably about a month old. Thus, the tiny creatures have not yet opened their eyes, and their canine teeth are just now beginning to grow.

The same source informs that employees at Taipei Zoo are now taking turns keeping a close eye on the baby otters and feeding them around the clock. Apart from ensuring that the pups get proper nourishment, keepers must also massage their bellies in order to stimulate bowel movements.

The baby otters are both males. For the time being, their caretakers have not settled on a name for either of them. However, it is to be expected that, after the pups grow stronger and become more independent, they will find suitable monikers for them.
