A mutt abandoned in Los Angeles was helped by a stranger who spotted her on Google Street View. The woman called an animal rescue shelter and told them where they could find the dog.

After Jennifer Velasquez's call to Hope For Paws, someone from the organization fetched the dog to the shelter. Metro described that the abandoned dog was sitting right where Velasquez saw her, in front of a vacant building.

Hope For Paws employee Eldad Hagar fed the dog a cheeseburger after finding her hiding under a truck. He gave her the name “Sonya” and called a vet for an examination.

The pooch had several tumors and was suffering from arthritis, but the conditions are responding to treatment.

“The vet said if she were still on the street she probably wouldn’t be walking. Sonya is doing good and is happy as ever. Please send her good thoughts and we will take great care of her,” another staffer describes.
