Only recently, a cat owner in Gloucester decided to simply abandon its pet, in spite of the latter's suffering from skin cancer and needing medical attention.

Prior to being found and taken to the vet, the cat probably suffered from excruciating pain, seeing how it tore off its own ears.

The people who took care of the feline, now named Victoria, speculate that its owner must have left it unattended for several months, most likely because they did not want to spend any money on veterinarians.

“Due to non-treatment of this condition for months, this cat’s ear had rotted away. The cat had been in so much discomfort it had resorted to ripping its own ear off to try and relieve itself of its constant agony, leaving it in such a state of self-disfigurement,” veterinarian Louise Barrow told members of the press.

Apparently, there is hope that Victoria will soon find itself in better health.
