Abandon Mobile has released U.S. Marine Scout Sniper, a strategic military game which puts the player in the role of a sniper. Announced in September 2006, the game is now available on J2ME devices, via mobile carriers Cingular, Boost, and a new J2ME service from Cricket/Leap. Under an agreement with The U.S. Marine Scout/Sniper Association, 15 percent of the game's sales will go directly to the association to support U.S. troops on the battlefield.

The game puts the player in the role of a new recruit on his way to combat. After his helicopter is shot down and as he narrowly evades capture, the gamer uncovers a terrorist plot to use a nuclear device to destabilize the region. The player must use all his skills as a Marine Scout Sniper to infiltrate enemy strongholds, sneak past observation posts, line up the target in his sights and eliminate each of the mission objectives. The game takes place throughout eight action-packed levels, the player having the task of neutralizing the terrorist threat before he can call in for extraction.

The US Marine Scout/Sniper Association, founded in 1998, is a non-profit Veterans organization that provides Marine snipers with state-of-the-art optical equipment for use in the field. Marine Scout Snipers, known as the "Guardians of the Battlefield," are an invaluable Marine unit that is known for their long-ranged attack capabilities and their ability to psychologically shape conflict, which is increasingly important within today's urban warfare environment.

Tom "Moose" Ferran, Chairman of USMC, Marine Scout/Sniper Association, commented: "Abandon Mobile has been an excellent partner for the organization as we work toward providing Marine snipers and their families with support on the battlefield as well as at home. With proceeds of game sales going directly to the Association, US Marine Scout Sniper certainly helps us achieve our objectives, while helping to educate the public about the important role and responsibility these soldiers undertake in defense of the United States."
