Applied Voice & Speech Technologies has launched a new version of its flagship unified communications solution, CallXpress. The new version enhances AVST's robust unified messaging offering with the ability of defining architecture that best meets an enterprise's storage, access and security needs.

CallXpress 7.9 also features new SIP integration and enhanced localization features. A flexible roadmap to unified communications has become a top priority for corporate decision makers who are continuously looking for alternative solutions.

Unified Messaging, which presumes the integration of voice, fax and e-mail messaging from a single interface, has become a very important component of UC. Enterprise decision makers will now be able to select from UM architectures based on the needs of their business, or mix and match according to each department's requirements.

CallXpress 7.9 provides 4 versions of unified messaging that can be uniquely tailored to fit businesses in a wide range of industries. The choices include: 'Server-based' which ensures that all messages are placed into one location, the email server, allowing users to access voice messages by using any of their familiar methods;

'Client-based' through which voice and fax messages remain on the CallXpress system, with the dual-message store version integrating voice and fax message access from the desktop e-mail client and voice, fax and e-mail access from the phone;

'Secure', which ensures that messages on CallXpress are accessed by using Web PhoneManager, a secure voice portal that makes sure voice and fax messages never interact with the e-mail server and can't be forwarded externally; 'Simplified' that sends an e-mail notification, optionally including a copy of the user's voice or fax messages as an attachment to the e-mail.

The CallXpress 7.9 solution is currently in field trial and scheduled to become available within 90 days, through AVST's reseller channels.
