The need for mobile phone software protection has never been greater than now, as malicious applications have turned to this new and unprotected environment. Anti Virus Guard (AVG) from Grisoft aims at this target, that needs efficient protection from the growing
threats.

The fact that mobile phones did not come with antivirus software until now has made these devices easy targets for spam messages and even destructive applications. AVG is not the first security suite for handsets, but promises to be a highly efficient one. "Hackers are now finding ways to access mobile phone data and we want to ensure that our users stay protected", said Larry Bridwell, Global Security Strategist at Grisoft.

As mobile advertising is often intruding and undesired by many, AVG Mobile Security comes with anti-virus and SMS anti-spam protection. Moreover, the software is continuously updating its database through a rapid distribution system of more than 10,000 servers worldwide in order to efficiently respond to threats.

"Hackers are now finding ways to access mobile phone data and we want to ensure that our users stay protected. We look forward to building upon this product and extending AVG's comprehensive and unobtrusive security to protect as many mobile phones as possible", says Larry Bridwell, VP Global Security Strategies at GRISOFT. Their latest product comes as a result of understanding these needs. "As our first product for mobile phones, the new AVG Mobile Security platform was designed to help users keep their mobile communications secure at all times", Larry Bridwell further declared.

At this moment, there are more than 350 mobile viruses and threats for handsets. As a result, the customers of more than 80 percent of mobile operators have been affected by threats.

AVG Mobile Security is currently in a BETA testing process and can be downloaded from the company's website after registration.
