We have requested the security firm to check if the detection is accurate

Georgian security researcher Ucha Gobejishvili has pointed out that AVG identifies many of the webpages of Panasonic Australia’s official blog as containing JavaScript Obfuscation, a method utilized by cybercriminals to mask their malicious elements.

Curiously, when checked with Virus Total, the links appear to be clean, so this either means that it’s a false positive, or AVG is the only one that detects the threat.

In any case, we’ve contacted AVG to find out if the detection is accurate or not, and we’ll update this post as soon as new details become available.

A lot of important websites have been found to be compromised in the past period, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if blogs.panasonic.com.au was hijacked.

In the meantime, users are advised to act with caution if visiting the website.

Update.  AVG has confirmed the expert's findings. Here's a statement they provided: We checked our Threatlabs site and learned there has been some threat activity on this site in the last seven days.

Details can be found here including a description of the threat: http://www.avgthreatlabs.com/sitereports/domain/blogs.panasonic.com.au

In the meantime, we have alerted Panasonic and we are trying to find out why other security firms detect the site as being clean.
