Gaming notebooks purchased from AVADirect can now be configured with up to 32GB of RAM system memory as the company has finalized testing the compatibility of these laptops with high-capacity 32GB DDR3 kits.

Until recently, AVADirect only allowed its customers to add 32GB of system memory to notebooks based on Intel LGA 1366 processors, like the Clevo X7200 desktop replacement.

Despite this, Sandy Bridge CPUs also have support for such high memory capacities and now that AVADirect has finalized testing compatibility users can select such configurations when purchasing their notebooks.

32GB RAM kits are for now available in the Clevo P170HM and P151HM gaming laptops, in the MSI GT780DXR-405US and GT683DXR-634US as well as in the ASUS G53SX, G73SW, and G74SX ROG-series models.

When configuring their notebook with 32GB of RAM users have the option of choosing between Crucial and Patriot DDR3 kits.

Despite the different manufacturers, both kits feature similar specs as they are designed to run at PC 10666 speeds (DDR3 1333MHz) with CL9 timings while requiring 1.5 volts.

As far as pricing is concerned, the difference between the two memory kits is quite large.

Taking for example the base configuration of the Clevo P170HM, going for 32GB of Patriot-built memory adds $407 US (almost 306 EUR) to the starting price of the notebooks, while opting for the Crucial memory kit raises the starting price by a whopping $635 US (477 EUR).

Given the identical specs of the two kits and the high price difference, it’s hard to think of a reason why would anyone choose to go with the Crucial-built memory.

Right now, the cheapest 16GB dual-channel DDR3 notebook memory kit available on Newegg is built by GeIL and is priced at $194.99, which means that a 32GB config will set you back $394.98 (297 EUR), so going for AVADirect’s 32GB Patriot kit is definitely a good deal.
