Custom system builder AVADirect just announced that its high-performance Clevo X7200 desktop replacement notebook can now be configured with as much as 24GB of RAM for running memory intensive applications.

Just as its name implies, AVADirect's desktop replacement is built around the same Clevo X7200 barebone chassis as the one utilized in the Eurocom Panther or the Sager NP7280, so all three machines feature similar specifications.

This means that at the heart of the system stands the X58 Express chipset, which Intel just announced it will retire in 2012, and this can be paired together with various desktop LGA 1366 processors.

The most powerful CPU option that is available from AVADirect is the Intel Core i7-990X Extreme processor that includes six computing cores, Hyper-Threading support, and has a base clock speed of 3.46GHz.

Together with these powerful processors and the 24GB of memory, AVADirect also allows its customers to choose from a wide selection of discrete graphics cards, which includes solutions built by both AMD and Nvidia.

As far as storage is concerned, the machine packs no less than four physical drive bays, that can be populated with HDD, SSD of hybrid storage solutions, and supports the RAID 0/1/5/10 operation modes.

All these are packed inside a 17.3-inch chassis together with a Full HD display with a glossy finish.

To get the X7200 with 24GB of RAM users have to opt for the Crucial 24GB kit under "DDR3-1333 SODIMM Memory" when configuring the notebook. The price of the upgrade is set at $1035.92 US which should roughly equal 777.6 Euros.

Customers who want to go for this upgrade should keep in mind that a 64-bit operating system is required for taking advantage of all the system memory installed. For Windows, either Professional or Ultimate is required as Home Premium is limited at 16GB.
