Tired of sticking your face in a bucket of cold water soon after you reach the crossing line? You probably need an ice vest, wet towels or some huge windmills. But wait, there's a more effective way to reduce your body's core temperature. AVA Core came out with a portable device that can help your body maintain a stable core temperature.

Named Core Control Rapid Temperature eXchange, the device uses the RTX technology developed by thermoregulation experts at Standfort University. Here's how it works. The device increases the blood flow to the user's palm using a slight vacuum. Apparently, this changes the body's temperature 2 to 5 times faster than the skin surface treatments. It's like a glove that's similar to the effective "radiator" found in bear paws (I have no idea who invented that). The user doesn't actually feel cooler, but s/he feels revitalized and less fatigued.

After 2 years of testing in a range of elite sporting teams, AVA Core unveiled that the product has been very successful and no adverse side effects have been noticed. The device has also proved to be a real boon for firefighters, the military and for persons suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Apparently, the "glove" increased the athlete's endurance by 25% and the initial recovery rate by 50%.

The RTX technology may soon materialize in a similar device that can quickly restore the core temperatures of hypothermia sufferers that need a quick temperature boost. This kind of devices will probably be very useful in remote places that are difficult to reach by rescue teams.
