The results of the trials performed by AV-TEST – the leading security software analysis company – for September and October are in. It turns out that when it comes to home user products, Bitdefender’s Internet Security 2013 is ranked number one.

The security product developed by the Romanian company scored 17 of the 18 possible points.

“This is the AV-TEST round the industry was eagerly awaiting - the first tests of the most popular 2013 products,” said Bitdefender Chief Security Strategist Catalin Cosoi.

“We had a stunningly successful run with the 2012 generation of products that shot us firmly into world leadership spot of the industry. Now, after the first tests based on our 2013 generation of products, it looks like we’re going to advance even more.”

Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 scored the maximum of 6 on “protection,” 6 on “repair” and 5 on “usability.” In comparison, ESET Smart Security 5.2 scored 3.5, 3 and 5, while Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 scored 5.5, 4.5 and 5.

“Bitdefender software is a regular feature at the top of our testing here at AV-TEST and we were particularly looking forward to testing the 2013 products,” explained AV-TEST CEO Andreas Marx.

“We were not disappointed. The experience and dedication of the Bitdefender team shows through in all of its products we test. As always, we look forward to the next round of testing.”

This latest award comes in addition to the several other ones that Bitdefender products have received over the past period. Their solutions were also named as being the best by AV Comparatives, which rewarded their efforts with its Top Rated Award for 2011.

Bitdefender has been named Editor’s Choice by several reputable publications and it has also been awarded the VB100 certification by Virus Bulletin.
