Apparently, the Ativ Q isn't the only 13.3-inch portable consumer electronic with a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels that Samsung has prepared. It so happens that there is an ultrabook ready to sell as well.

Well, it would be more accurate to say that there are two Ultrabooks ready to take on the world: the ATIV Book 9 Plus and ATIV Book 9 Lite.

The ATIV Book 9 Plus has, as a heart, an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 central processing unit, paired with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and an SSD of 256 GB or more.

It also boasts a Gorilla Glass protective panel over the screen, plus a battery that can last for up to 12 hours on a single charge.

The 13.3-inch ATIV Book 9 Plus weighs 1.39kg (3.06 pounds) and, of course, supports touch input, like any good Windows 8 system.

Samsung even went through the trouble of using OCR bonding for the LCD and glass, to make sure the touch system is as responsive as it can be.

Finally, there are two hinge positions. One holds the screen at 105 degrees, the other at 180.

Sales will start in the third quarter, which can mean anything from two weeks from now to three and a half months. The same goes for the ATIV Book 9 Lite.

Speaking of which, the ATIV Book 9 Lite has a 256 GB SSD and, instead of an Intel unit, an AMD quad-core processor at 1.4 GHz. It may or may not be an APU, but given the lack of mention of discrete GPU, we figure it is.

The laptop also gets 4 GB of RAM instead of 8, a battery that can last for 8 hours instead of 12, and a display with a resolution of just 1366 x 768 pixels.

The weight of the laptop is 1.44kg (3.17 pounds) for the non-touch version, and 1.58kg (3.48 pounds) for the one with a touchscreen.
