Looks like ATI's TV Wonder 650 graphics card is not the sole product to be taken out of the shelves, as several undisclosed sources told Daily Tech that the next in line is the manufacturer's All-in-Wonder multimedia video cards.
"DailyTech first heard rumblings of the AIW line being discontinued a few months ago from several video card manufacturers. The latest insider information that we have from ATI distributors reveals that ATI will cease production of the entire All-in-Wonder series by the end of this month. ATI will instead focus on its stand-alone graphics cards and TV tuner solutions," reports Daily Tech.
The company didn't comment on the story, but the analysts believe that the sudden move might be determined by the market trend that is now shifting from the graphics cards with built-in TV tuner.
Regarding the TV Wonder 650 graphics card recall, several e-mails came at DailyTech in which the customers say that ATI's TV Wonder is disappearing from the shelves. An ATI insider told DailyTech that: "The TV Wonder 650's have been removed and were mostly in Best Buy chains. They claimed to have 40 channels, but only about 30% to 50% of them worked."
"Retail chains such as Best Buy were the first to take the new cards off store shelves. A few readers have emailed DailyTech claiming that ATI TV Wonder 650 was already off the store floor this morning. One DailyTech reader emailed us to claim, ATI has also asked Best Buy stores to note to customers that a "similar product [will be released] in the near future." At this time, no word has come out on what the new product actually is, or if the defective card actually made its way to customers," Daily Tech reported yesterday.
