With significant improvements

ATI has launched a new version of the Catalyst software designed for the company's graphics processors.

The Catalyst 5.6 represents a number of firsts in graphics software including a real-time video preview with on-the-fly adjustments, monthly software upgrades for notebook PCs and plug-and-play HDTV connectivity.

"With the launch of Catalyst 5.6 we take software innovation to the next level, broadening our footprint to support notebook PCs and defining a new standard for video control and usability. The new features in Catalyst 5.6 combined with an ongoing monthly commitment to deliver high-performance WHQL-certified drivers present a unique software proposition that is unmatched in the graphics industry.", said Ben Bar-Haim, vicepresident of Software at ATI Technologies.

ATI says the new version will significantly improve the performance of demanding games like: Doom 3, Chronicles of Riddick and Halo.

According to the producer, for the first time ever, notebook users will be able to download the latest Catalyst release every month to enhance their notebook PC.

Catalyst Mobility includes all of the features found in the regular Catalyst Driver, plus mobile specific features such as, device switching, resume, hotkeys, and power management.
