ATI says yes, Sander Sassen says no

ATI was absolutely furious after Hardware Analysis published the test results for the future graphics chip, Radeon X1800 XT, also known as R520. This wouldn't have happened if ATI Radeon X1800 XT and Radeon X1800 Pro had scored better results in the tests; unfortunately, they were far behind GeForce 7800 GTX, not to mention, the GeForce 7800 GTX SLI.

At first, the results were suspected of being far from the truth, but after the ATI officials have confirmed that the new video cards were not available for none of the partners, the situation became truly explosive.

Radeon X1800XT is almost ready and is due for launch in October, and ATI claims that the only model Hardware Analysis could have got their hands on is a X1800XL.

Sander Sassen, Hardware Analysis CEO, claims that the test results, which can be seen here, http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1813.1/, are correct and that the results were obtained using the models ATI is about to launch.

This story could escalate even more, Inquirer citing sources who claim that the GeForce 7800 GTX's result is overrated, and an ATI official claims that the results were obtained using an Ouija video card.

Others were saying that Hardware Analysis has faked the results because they weren't invited at the ATI X1800 XT launching, which is scheduled to take place on an exotic island.

We don't know who's telling the truth or whether the results are true, so until October, when the ATI video cards will be officially launched, we advise you to be suspicious when analyzing test results.
