ATI Radeon HD 2900 XTX Is Worse than 2900 XT

As the saga continues for AMD, it seems their only road right now is the one that will take them either up, thus escaping these hard times, or down, down as in

"they'll get bought by some company" or "they'll start begging for gas money while taking the bike to work". It seems their financial problems could take a turn for the worse as the HD 2900 XTX could be further delayed to the third quarter of the year, due to some technical difficulties.

And when I mean technical difficulties, I mean actually behaving poorly when compared to the HD 2900 XT. According to Fudzilla.com, the 1024MB GDDR4 Radeon HD 2900 XTX got beaten by the 512MB GDDR3 Radeon HD 2900 XT. This could be some kind of a publicity stunt, although it seems highly unlikely for AMD to come to their senses to do that. They're trying to put off the spearhead of the R600 series until a later time, either to prevent any attempt NVIDIA might make with that leaked G98 graphics card, or just to sail to their 65nm manufacturing process with the R600 series all together. I've said it before, that AMD plans in releasing a refresh of the R600, called R650.

As for the features of the R600, we've talked about it having 320 stream processorsand how those SP's are supposed to take it to a new level in performance; well, it seems that those 64 Unified Shaders are what makes the 320 stream processors a viable number, by integrating vec4 1 in each unified shader; do the math, it should add up. NVIDIA, on the other hand, uses eight separate blocks made out of 16 SP's each, with each block consisting of two shader processors, each of these being made up of eight SP's.
