Supports OpenSUSE 11 and Red Flag Desktop 6 service pack 1

A new version of AMD's proprietary Linux driver has been launched, bringing new support for some of the latest operating systems, along with many resolved features as well as certain know issues.  

New features in this release:

· Support for Red Flag Desktop 6 service pack 1 · Support for OpenSuSE 11.

Resolved Issues:

· Changing the display resolution from the Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition and restarting X no longer leads to a fatal server error; · The 3D Page Tree from Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition doesn't fail to respond when clicking on it; · Default buttons without customs settings available, regarding driver options, are no longer provided by the Catalyst Control Center Linux Edition; · HDMI Audio support for Linux is now featured for the ATI Radeon HD 3100/3200 series of products; · A digital panel doesn't fail to become active when it is hot plugged to an ATI Radeon HD 46x0 series; · X no longer fails to respond when shutting down in dual head mode; · Playback of video files or suzi test app doesn't cause the entire X desktop including the mouse cursor to be choppy; · Systems running Linux will provide now TV size and positioning sliders; · Moving an application or browser window on a Linux Desktop doesn't genarate corruption anymore; · and many more.

Known Issues:

· On systems running SUSE 10.3 (32-bit), pressing "Ctrl+Alt+F7/F8" to switch sessions when "fgl_glxgears" is running may be fail to take effect; · On RHEL 5.1 or SUSE 10.3 the system may become unresponsive when running "fgl_glxgears"; · Trying to load fglrx on Ubuntu 8.10 may lead to noticing undefined symbols; · Running GTKperf may generate poor performance on systems containing an ATI Radeon HD 38x0 or newer product; · Playing a video file could lead to the player generating a blank image and the audio being choppy;     · and others.

In order to achieve the best performance and ease of use, ATI/AMD recommends the following:

· Kernel module build environment should include the kernel source code (either the kernel source or kernel header packages); · The rpm utility should be installed and configured correctly on your system, if you intend to install via RPM packages.

Requirements:

· XOrg 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2 or 7.3; · Linux Kernel 2.6 and above; · glibc version 2.2 or 2.3; · POSIX Shared Memory (/dev/shm) support is required for 3D applications.
