Wireless carrier AT&T might be the exclusive carrier of Apple's iPhone, but this is not the only device it offers to its customers. The operator launched earlier this year its first Android-based device, the Motorola Backflip, and now we learn that another Motorola device powered by Google's mobile OS should become available for purchase with the operator, namely the Motorola Flipout.

The square Motorola Flipout runs under the Android 2.1 platform, on top of which Motorola loaded its Motoblur user interface. The handset comes with a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, a 600 MHz OMAP3410 processor based on a ARM Cortex-A8 core complemented by 512 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM, 150 MB of user accessible memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space.

“With a 2.8" QVGA display, rotator keyboard, and MOTOBLUR, FLIPOUT is small enough to pocket easily, yet powerful enough to gather your social networks in one place and run your favorite apps. Bang out messages at a rapid-fire pace with the PC-like keyboard, share pics from the 3-megapixel camera, and see the best of the web with the full browser and Adobe Flash Lite,” Motorola notes on its website. For the time being, no official announcement on Flipout's arrival at AT&T has been made.

The specifications list of the new device includes a 3-megapixel photo snapper with fixed focus and 4x digital zoom, microUSB connector, 3.5 mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, FM Radio with RDS, Assisted GPS, E-Compass, support for Exchange ActiveSync, IMAP4 and POP3, as well as for IM, SMS and MMS. The mobile phone is powered by a 1170 mAh Li Ion battery that can offer up to 357 minutes of talk time or up to 365 hours of standby time on GSM, measures measures 67 x 67 x 17 mm and weighs in at 120g.
