Reportedly, wireless carrier AT&T is set to bring to the market in the United States the HTC ChaCha Facebook phone, and some more info on the matter started to emerge.

The handset was already spotted into the wild with AT&T's logo on it, and also made an appearance at FCC, which suggested that it might not be too long before the carrier made it available for purchase.

However, nothing as officially announced on the matter for the time being, but it seems that things might change pretty soon.

According to some of the latest reports on this, AT&T would be set to make the new mobile phone available on its airwaves as the HTC Status.

The name should reflect one of the main features of the new handset, namely a dedicated Facebook button through which users can access the social-networking site and update their statuses, upload photos or videos, share links, and more.

The HTC ChaCha was unveiled to the world in February this year, with a QWERTY keyboard on the front to accompany the touchscreen display HTC packed it with from the start.

The handset was launched along with another Facebook phone from HTC, the Salsa, which will not be released on AT&T's network, although some of the previous rumors on it suggested otherwise.

Beside the AT&T logo on the front and support for the wireless carrier's network, the Status should pack the same specs and features as the HTC ChaCha.

The mobile phone was launched with an 800MHz application processor inside, a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, WiFi and 3G connectivity options, and a microSD memory card slot for expanding the available memory.

At the same time, it arrives with built-in GPS receiver, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB port, Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and support for a wide range of mobile services, as well as for applications available through the Android Market.
