Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson announced not too long ago its first handset powered by Google's Android operating system, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, and while no specific availability was disclosed, some new specs for the device seem to unveil what hasn't been said before. To be more precise, the XPERIA X10 is expected to become available in the US on AT&T's airwaves, based on the network frequencies the device supports.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 page on the handset vendor's website shows that this nice looking Android phone will come to the market with support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 800/850/900/1700/1900/2100 network. Moreover, the specs page also notes that “UMTS HSPA 800/850/1900 only available for phones sold in Americas (except Brazil) and Australia. UMTS HSPA 900/1700 not available for phones sold in Americas. UMTS HSPA 1900/2100 available worldwide.”

While the UMTS/HSPA 800/850/900/1700/1900/2100 bands support suggests that either AT&T or T-Mobile might have the handset on their airwaves, the “UMTS HSPA 900/1700 not available for phones sold in Americas” line removes T-Mobile from the equation. No official details on a possible deal between AT&T and Sony Ericsson emerged until now, but one should know that Sony Style is already selling AT&T-bound SE phones, so the rumor might pan out in the end.

Additional info on the XPERIA X10, which can be found on Sony Ericsson's website, also show that users will be able to enjoy Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation and Google Maps on the device, as well as Video Light, meaning that one will be able to shoot videos in the dark, as the flash will be on. Other features are also present with the handset, and most of you might be already familiar with them, yet we should note that they're expected to come at a rather leveraged price tag: $879.

Nothing has yet been confirmed, but we won't rule this one out for the time being. Especially since MobileCityOnline has the phone available for pre-order priced at $999, with no shipping date listed. You can check the XPERIA X10 on their website here and you might also want to take a look at the hands-on video below, posted by the guys over at Mobilyz.com.

X10 has many shortcomings compared to Droid
1)No Flash,so no camera/video capture at night
2)Android 1.6 vs Droid has Android 2.0
3)No Ambient Light sensor( Display brightness automatically adjusts as per the outside light - dark vs bright )
4)No Voice activated google maps navigation
5)Video capture for X10 is at lower resolution then Droid
6)Biggest of all: No physical keypad
7)Price for X10 is more then four times of Droid
8)Comes with only 8GB transflash vs Droids 16GB transflash card
9)16 million colors on the Droid and only 65,536 colors on the Xperia X10
