Most iPhone owners happy with AT&T

Wireless carrier AT&T is reportedly gearing up for performing some network enhancement so as to fix an issue that affected the upload speeds of its iPhone 4 owners, as well as for those customers sending data from laptop modems. According to the company, the fix should be rolled out within a matter of weeks. Moreover, the carrier noted that the iPhone 4 is the only device on its airwaves to use HSUPA.

“This patch will be deployed on a phased basis over the next two to three weeks,” AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel said, Reuters reports. The wireless operator announced earlier this month that it was working with Alcatel Lucent for delivering a fix for this glitch, which reportedly affected less than 2 percent of its users.

The issue was only one of the problems AT&T and Apple had since the launch of iPhone 4. Right at launch, the two companies had a wide range of issues with customers' orders, and were even affected by some privacy problems. Soon after launch, the device was said to come with reception problems, as well as with a glitch in the way in which is displays signal bars. Apple started sending out free cases and bumpers to its users.

Even if hit by these issues, most iPhone users out there are still happy with their devices, and it seems that they are equally happy with their wireless carrier. According to CNNMoney, a recent report from Yankee Group shows that 73 percent of iPhone users are “very satisfied” with AT&T. For comparison, the overall consumer satisfaction with AT&T is 68 percent, while the percentage tops 69 when it comes to AT&T smartphone users.

However, it seems that the explanation is a simple one. “Consumers transfer the high gloss of their Apple iPhone experience to AT&T,” says Carl Howe, Yankee Group analyst and author of the study. “The iPhone creates a halo effect that rubs off.” According to the study, the iPhone should generate about $9 billion in revenue for the wireless carrier during the next five years.
