For the third quarter

According to the latest news on the Web, AT&T plans to make some changes to its lineup in the near future, and the first step it will take in this regard is the canceling of LG Secret. This move seems to have been determined by the cost of the device, namely the fact that the price point of the phone won't be the expected one given its capabilities.

This might very well be the one rumor that a lot of people expected to prove false in the end, but the mobile phone carrier made similar moves with other handsets in the past as well, including the highly-anticipated Sony Ericsson K850, a 5-megapixel camera phone that was canceled at the last minute, which could also happen to the CF750 Secret.

In addition to blocking the release of Secret, AT&T has more plans it seems, and another thing that it is expected to do is to put an end to some of its handsets, again from LG, namely Shine and Vu. While the former will end its life by the end of May, the latter is due to meet its end sometime in August, and both of them will have successors in the carrier’s lineup.

Second iterations of the handsets, Shine 2 and Vu 2, are both expected to land on AT&T's lineup as soon as the third quarter of the ongoing year. Things might change here as well, and the devices might be set back for the holiday shopping season, since we are already accustomed to manufacturers and carriers delaying devices when either the hardware of the software is not ready for release.

For what it's worth, the two LG phones should come to the market this year, and it seems that they might also include some rather nice features, as Vu 2 is reported to come with “some new 3D touchscreen,” which suggests that the manufacturer packed it with the S-Class UI already available with Arena or Viewty Smart.
