Mobile phone carrier AT&T is gearing up for the release of a new Android-based smartphone from HTC, dubbed Holiday and supposedly called HTC Holiday, which can be seen in a new set of leaked photos today. The mobile phone is also expected to offer support for the wireless carrier's 4G LTE network, and some of the photos attached to this article come as proof of this feature packed inside it.

The HTC Holiday 4G LTE-enabled smartphone was reportedly tested in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, and the results are encouraging at the moment.

The mobile phone can easily deliver data transfer speeds of around 29Mbps on the carrier's LTE airwaves, which is more than what Verizon's network can deliver at the moment.

However, since there are basically no users on AT&T's LTE network at the moment, it does not come too much as a surprise that the handset can perform so well, yet it remains to be seen how it will fair when in real life situations.

The HTC Holiday will hit the market as a high-end smartphone, boasting a large 4.5-inch display that can deliver a qHD resolution, along with a 1.2GHz dual-core application processor inside, for increased performance capabilities.

The mobile phone is also said to hit the shelves with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording, as well as with the usual set of connectivity options.

Moreover, HTC Holiday is said to run under Google's Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system, with the new HTC Sense 3.0 user interface loaded on top of it.

For the time being, no specific info on when the HTC Holiday might arrive on shelves at AT&T emerged, but rumor has it that this should happen in the next few months.

The wireless carrier has already made available for purchase its first LTE-capable devices, including the new HTC Jetstream tablet PC, and should add even more of them in the near future. More photos with HTC Holiday are available on BGR here.
