Microsoft already started to deliver the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update to its users, yet some of them have been left behind, including those who own an HTC HD7S smartphone on the airwaves of AT&T.

The mobile phone was not included in the series of devices that received the software update when it started to arrive about two weeks ago, but it seems that things are turning for the better starting today.

An internal memo from AT&T reportedly leaked into the wild, showing that the HD7S smartphones might be set to receive the Mango update starting with today.

The wireless carrier has already made the new OS flavor available for the HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and Samsung Focus devices, and should bring it to all of its Windows Phone handsets in the near future.

“Microsoft is scheduled to begin rolling out the new Mango 7720 update to AT&T customers with existing HTC HD7S Windows Phone 7 devices,” the AT&T memo reads.

“To help ensure quality control, Microsoft is releasing the update in controlled batch quantities over several days. During the initial rollout period, the update is only available to customers once they receive a notification that an update is available on their device.

“The update will be available to all AT&T customers with existing HTC HD7S, HTC Surround, LG Quantum, and Samsung Focus devices after the controlled rollout has completed.”

The same as with the other previous software updates for the Windows Phone platform, the upgrade to the new Mango OS platform will have to be performed via a desktop computer.

Users will have to have the Zune software installed on their devices, or the Windows Phone Connector for Mac, and will have to connect the handset to the desktop PC via the USB cable that arrived in the retail box with the smartphone.

AT&T hasn't confirmed the availability of the new software update as of yet, but it might offer info on the matter soon, so keep an eye on this space to learn the news.
