Wireless carrier AT&T has finally started to roll out the BlackBerry 10.1 OS upgrade for the owners of BlackBerry Z10 devices on its network.

Users are reporting successful updates to the new firmware release, which comes as OS 10.1.0.2074, with appealing enhancements packed inside.

Among them, we can count improvements to the phone’s keyboard, some of which include word prediction by swiping up on letters to retrieve an entire word, and more.

Furthermore, the app comes with new Setup Toolkit tutorials, various changes to the post Balance activation instructions, and better visibility for the message service connectivity/status in BlackBerry Hub on their Blackberry Z10 devices.

The release notes for the new software update show the following:

- Keyboard improvements including, word prediction by swiping up on letters to retrieve an entire word, delete words with a single swipe to the left, hide the keyboard with the spacebar or swiping down with two fingers

- Setup Toolkit tutorials, BB made additional video tutorials available in the setup buffer

- Improvements on post Balance activation instructions and made it easier to find instructions to switch between work spaces

- Reworked user interface (UI) in the email/sms text entry field to better expose message actions (attach, formatting, importance flag)

- Improved visibility in Hub for message service connectivity/status. Added yield sign graphic and top line status bar to emphasize connectivity problems. Added an “activity spinner” on manually invoked “refresh

As a recent article on CrackBerry notes, the new software release weighs 334MB, and is being delivered to devices over-the-air. It is also available for download through the BlackBerry Link desktop application.

Users can check on the availability of the new platform version on their devices, though not all of them will see it emerge right away. Users who run a leaked operating system flavor on their smartphones might not see the new update listed as available for them, it seems.
