Last week, we reported that AT&T and Samsung had kicked off the rollout of Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy S4 Active. That was a nice surprise for those who owned the smartphone, especially that neither the carrier nor the handset maker announced any plans to upgrade to Galaxy S4 Active.

Unfortunately, the major update was only available for a short while, as Samsung and AT&T have recently announced that they have temporarily halted the rollout of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Galaxy S4 Active.

Samsung explains that “the software update for Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is temporarily on hold while AT&T and Samsung look into potential improvements.”

Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was supposed to bring lots of new features and improvements, such as copy and paste enhancements, camera app accessibility from the lock screen and call reliability improvements.

It is also worth mentioning that the initial update was between 447MB and 877MB in size, depending on the OS version, and it was only available over Wi-Fi.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling what features Samsung and AT&T plan to improve, so there’s no way we can guess when exactly the rollout will be resumed. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
