Samsung recently confirmed it has sold more than 1 million Galaxy Note units worldwide. Furthermore, the Korean handset manufacturer also announced plans to introduce the smartphone in other regions, including the United States.

According to the latest hearsay, Samsung Galaxy Note is expected to arrive in the United States sometime this month via AT&T. Although the company has yet to announce the exact release date of the Android-based device, there’s a high chance that the Galaxy Note will be released at 2012 CES within the next few days.

The folks over at Sammobile have been tipped on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note smartphone, which points to an imminent AT&T release. In this regard, the press photo published by Sammobile shows the Galaxy Note with the AT&T logo.

Unlike the European version of the Galaxy Note, the AT&T variant will be delivered with an NFC (Near Field Communications) chip inside, which allows users to read NFC tags.

Other than that the rest of the features are similar, including the extra-large 5.29-inch WXGA Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that boasts 800 x 1280 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

On the inside, the super-phone is equipped with a powerful dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon CPU, which is complemented by an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit. There’s also 16GB/32GB onboard memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Software-wise, the Galaxy Note runs Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system with TouchWiz 4.0 on top, but it will be among the first, along with the Galaxy S II, to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in Q1 2012.

The smartphone sports an enhanced 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and chats.
