Motorola promised the long-awaited Android 4.0 ICS update for the ATRIX 2 last month, but the US-based handset maker failed to offer any details on the exact release date of the upgrade.

Well, it looks like the time has come for ATRIX 2 owners to upgrade their devices to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

AT&T and Motorola have just announced the update is now pushed through OTA (over the air), in stages. This means that not all ATRIX 2 owners will get the Android 4.0 ICS update at the same time, so we recommend users to check back later.

The latest update promises to make the ATRIX 2 easier to use and more powerful. New features will be added, such as a better browser, offline reading and desktop mode.

With Android 4.0 ICS, the ATRIX 2 contacts app will be replaced with the new People app, which offers larger profile pictures, phone numbers and status updates in one location. For more details on the Android 4.0 ICS update for ATRIX 2 check out AT&T’s post.
