HTC One X is an exceptional device, which is why the Taiwanese company sold quite a high number of units, especially in the United States.

Made official in early May, HTC One X was introduced in the US through AT&T. Although the smartphone had to face fierce competition from Samsung Galaxy S III and Nokia Lumia 900, the One X was among the most popular devices at AT&T.

Unfortunately, the One X was plagued by several bugs that limit its functionality, though HTC announced it would address these issues through software updates.

In this regard, HTC One X received a few maintenance updates that improved the overall stability and performance of the smartphone, but there are still quite a number of issues that need to be corrected.

Well, it looks like HTC is currently pushing another software update for AT&T One X devices. The update is delivered OTA (over the air) and is about 270MB in size.

Keep in mind that you’ll be able to download the update as soon as you receive a notification on the One X, or you could check for it manually by going to Settings / About phone / Software update.

Software build 2.20.502.7 bumps the operating system to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich and brings lots of bug fixes and improvements.

The bad news is that HTC has yet to release an official changelog of the update. However, the folks over at XDA Developers have already noticed some of the changes included in this update.

It appears that the update removes the bar and now allows HTC One X owners to use the Recent Apps button as menu key. You’ll be able to choose from the following options: Always open recent apps, Press for menu, press and hold for recent apps, and Press for recent apps, press and hold for menu.

It is also worth mentioning that the update may remove root and close any weak points that made it possible, so those who are un-rooted but wish to root after updating should stay away. The same goes for those who rooted their AT&T One X devices.
