Last week, Apple announced the upcoming availability of a new iPhone model, and AT&T was one of the wireless carriers which confirmed plans to add the handset to its offering.

In fact, the wireless services provider has already made the new Apple iPhone 5 available for pre-order to its users.

Only three days after the reservations period was opened, AT&T announced that iPhone 5 enjoyed the most successful iPhone launch on its network.

“AT&T set a sales record with iPhone 5 over the weekend, making it the fastest-selling iPhone the company has ever offered. Customers ordered more iPhones from AT&T than any previous model both on its first day of preorders and over the weekend,” the wireless carrier announced.

The new Apple iPhone was made available for pre-order through AT&T’s website, and those users interested in grabbing the device can still head there to reserve it.

The smartphone is set to become generally available on September 21st, when AT&T will start selling it through its brick and mortar stores as well.

In addition to the various hardware enhancements and new features that iPhone 5 comes with when compared to previous models, AT&T notes that its users will enjoy a series of advantages from its network as well.

Some of these include: - AT&T's network lets you talk and surf the web at the same time.

- Largest 4G Network. Customers get blazing-fast speeds on the nation's largest 4G network, covering 275 million people.

- FlexibleRate Plans. AT&T doesn't force customers to switch data plans to get the best device price when they upgrade to a new device and new AT&T customers aren't forced into a certain plan; they have the flexibility to choose from one of several individual or Mobile Share plans.

Apple’s iPhone 5 will be available this Friday on other wireless carriers in the United States as well, including Sprint and Verizon, and will land on more networks starting with the next week.
